Lately, Pola town in Oriental Mindoro has been the favorite shooting location of a number of films.

Just this year alone, there are two films shot in Pola, namely Neal “Buboy” Tan’s “40 Days” which starred James Blanco, Michelle Vito, Cataleya Surio, among others and internationally acclaimed director Brillante Ma. Mendoza’s yet untitled project which featured Coco Martin, Lotlot de Leon, Julia Montes, Alan Paule, Raymart Santiago, to name only a few.

There are other future shoots which would show the rural magnificence of the community which are being facilitated by its mayor, former sexy actress and now a businesswoman as well, Ina Alegre.

As a matter of fact, it was Ina who acted as an investor in Neal’s latest outing and it wasn’t only a financial investment it was also an emotional capital as well.

In Brillante’s newest work, Alegre was one of the sponsors of the production like accommodation and food for the creative as well as administrative staff.

Meanwhile, when filmmaker Arman Reyes did a film with Tan, the former reminisced the camaraderie they shared on the movie set of “Every Second Counts,” a suspense-drama that Buboy made to express his genre expertise.

“Naku, si Laine Pirote ang talagang nagbigay sa amin ng magandang pagkakataon na maipakita ang aming mga wisdom sa filmmaking (Oh! It was Laine Pirote who gave us all the beautiful chances to show our wisdom in filmmaking,)” said Arman.

Reyes also expressed his wonderment in doing a film in Pola. “It was a memorable experience,” he said.

Pola is also the town of news anchor and former vice-president of the Philippines, Noli de Castro.
