In online awards ceremonies, the prestigious award-winning organization on film, Manunuri ng Pelikulang Pilipino (MPP) had proclaimed Janine Gutierrez as Best Actress on Tuesday night for the film “Babae at Baril”, which also romped away with the Best Film.
Janine played the role of a saleslady in a department store who is tired of being exploited and oppressed she finds owning a gun a powerful tool in liberation.
Rae Red was named Best Director for same film.
Newbie is Best Actor
Teenager Elijah Canlas, a commercial model and practically new in the movie industry, took the Best Actor award as HIV+ in the film “Kalel, 15.”
The late Kristoffer King won the Best Supporting Actor plum for his convincing performance as an alcoholic husband in “Verdict” while Yayo Aguila was declared Best Supporting Actress as an illiterate mom of a boy who has two genitals in the flick “Metamorphosis”.
Jun Robles Lana took home the Best Screenplay trophy for “Kalel, 15.”

Best Editing — Ilsa Malsi for “Babae at Baril”
Best Production Design — Eero Yves Francisco for “Babae at Baril”
Best Music — Jude Giatamondoc and Cindy Velasquez for “Huwebes, Huwebes”
Best Sound — John Michael Perez and Mikko Quizon for “Mañanita”
Best Documentary — “No Data Plan” by Miko Revereza
Best Short Film — “Tokwifi” by Carla Pulido Ocampo
