Star for All Seasons Vilma Santos turns 67 today.
Amidst the COVID-19 pandemic her birthday pushes through without a big celebration because of the discouragement of mass gatherings to mitigate the further spread of the new coronavirus unlike the past years when she would treat friends and colleagues to a lavish party in Lipa City, Batangas, or elsewhere.
As a matter of fact, Vilma’s birthday wish is as simple yet meaningful and wishful as relishing an exclusive family red-letter day affair.
An End To The Pandemic
“My birthday wish is for this pandemic to end. Ito lang ang gusto kong pa-birthday sa akin. Sana, wala nang pandemic dahil sobra nang naapektuhan ang mga buhay natin (This is what I wish for a birthday gift. I wish there’s no pandemic anymore because our lives are affected so much),” Santos disclosed to a group of entertainment writers which included Noel Ferrer, Allan Diones, Jerry Olea and Gorgy Rula.
It was the turn of the showbiz writing fellows to wish her the best in life.
My wish for her? As one of them, I’d like to see Vi act on the big screen once more in the middle of her hectic schedule if not her priority requirement as a lawmaker.
Her latest acting vehicle was “Everything About Her” for Star Cinema in 2016 yet.
A Fabulous Film Artist
Other movie writers like Danny Vibas also wished the actress the best in life in more ways than one.
It was expressed in Danny’s encouragement to the public to read along a story by National Artist for Literature Nick Joaquin also known as Quijano de Manila about the birthday celebrator which was posted on social media by Nonoy Lauzon, one of the active members of the influential Young Critics Circle.
“What a fabulous piece about a fabulous film artist,” quipped Vibas.
The article which appeared in a magazine in 2009 was about the durability of Ate Vi as an actress.
