After decades of staying put in ABS-CBN, matinee idol and one of Star Magic’s mainstays, Piolo Pascual, has finally bid “ASAP,” the Sunday noontime show of Channel 2, adieu.
Starting today, October 18, at 12 noon and every Sunday thereafter, Piolo will break new ground as main host of TV5’s “SNL” or “Sunday Noontime Live,” a direct collision with his erstwhile Sunday noontime variety show, “ASAP”.
Fellow Kapamilya stars Catriona Gray and Maja Salvador tagged along with Piolo.
PJ (Piolo’s pet name), Catriona and Maja have always been identified with ABS-CBN where they were given good breaks and laid out with red carpet anytime they appear on the tube.
The known Kapamilya talents are only three of the many Star Magic steadies who have switched channels after Congress failed to grant another 25-year franchise to Channel 2, the free-to-air TV and DZMM, the Amplified Modulation (AM) free radio, two of the broadcast flagships of ABS-CBN Broadcasting Corporation.
Luis Manzano, fellow actor and former co-host in “ASAP” sent his congratulatory remarks to Pascual via his Instagram. “Congrats bro…,” Luis initially stated in his greets.
Then, Manzano intriguingly implied: “alam ko naman yung totoo…(As long as I know the truth…).”
Until, finally, Lucky dropped the bomb in jest on his buddy. “Di mo kinakaya na mas cute ako sa yo dito sa ABS kaya lumayo ka nalang sa gulo. Tama yan (You couldn’t stand that I am cuter than you are here in ABS so you just ward off from trouble. That’s a right move),” stated Luis in his post.
