THE fight against criminality and the task of keeping peace in Eastern Visayas region were significantly bolstered after a total of 234 recruits took their oath as new police officers in a ceremony held at the Police Regional Office 8 (PRO-8) Grandstand, Camp Ruperto Kangleon, Palo, Leyte recently.
Brig. Gen. Bernabe Balba, director of Police Regional Office Eastern Visayas, congratulated the new officers for passing the initial but rigorous recruitment process.
“You have overcome an incredible obstacle on your journey to becoming police officers, and keep this in mind that being such is not just a mere job, but rather, it is a title with responsibility, passion and dedication.”
Balba added the rookie cops must always adhere to the three basic Filipino values which are “malinis, magalang at maaasahan.”
Out of the 1,305 applicants who underwent the face-to-face interview for the first cycle of current year 2020 regular recruitment program, only 234 successfully passed the rigorous process composed of 196 and 38 male and female recruits.
The recruits will undergo the mandatory training, the Public Safety Basic Recruit Course (PSBRC) for six months at the Regional Training Center (RTC), Kuta Kankabato, San Jose, Tacloban City, to be followed by another six months of the field training program.
Balba said, “I am happy that despite the threat of COVID-19, our medical personnel, recruitment team and other personnel in-charge in the recruitment process who made extra efforts for the accomplishment of this recruitment.
