After her indelible performance as one of the emcees of the defunct “Rumors, Facts and Humor”, aired in ABS-CBN in the late 80s and other hosting jobs on TV, actress and still sexy comedienne Janice Jurado is back as an entertainment talk show host.
At first, Janice was surprised when the offer was sent to her.
“Magho-host daw ako ng TV show. Aba, gusto ko ‘yon kaya lang nakakabigla (Someone told me I would host a TV show. Oh! I like it but I was surprised),” exclaimed Jurado who is a health volunteer at the East Avenue Medical Center for cancer patient as liaison for their medical concerns.
“Miss ko na ang hosting sa TV (I already miss hosting on TV),” admitted Janice who was once a self-confessed drug user but is already cured because of her determination to make-up for the many opportunities in her showbiz career.
The Lighter Side
In “Humors, Facts and Humor,” a hit showbiz-oriented talk show in Channel 2, Janice provided the lighter side of the controversies and issues being tackled in the program being co-hosted with the late entertainment columnist, Alfie Lorenzo, and award-winning actress, Chanda Romero.
“Ako ang komedya sa show. Ako ang patawa sa isyu (I was the comedy in the show. I was the funny, laughter inducing mouth of the show),” the irrepressible movie and TV personality chuckled as she recalled her broadcast experience.
Being the comic relief was given to Janice because of her dumb beauty image on TV like Radio Philippines Network (RPN) Channel 9’s “Duplex” and other sitcoms.
This time, Janice is given a new lease on her television career by Nel Talavera, Business Development manager of Channel 31, an Ultra High Frequency (UHF) free TV being run by Asian Television (ATC).
“We believe in Janice that’s why we are investing on her,” said Nel.
A Serio-Comic Glib
The entertainment talk show, titled “Director’s Cut” which Janice teamed up with film director, Dave Cecilio, is serio-comic glib gig that discusses news and issues on local show business.
“Dito sa show, kahit ano, itanong ninyo, sasagutin ko kahit ano, kahit ang size ng bra ko (Here in the show, you can ask anything and I will answer even the size of my bra),” Janice quipped with a laugh.
Initially done on virtual production and aired live every Wednesday at 7 p.m. on Channel 31 online TV, Janice is optimistic the show will last even during these times of uncertainties.
“Masaya ‘to (This is fun),” she said.
