As the Senate of the Philippines readies its necrological service for Ramon Revilla, Sr. —one of chamber’s past controversial members— at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, July 1, at the Senate hall, Sen. Ramon “Bong” Revilla, Jr., recalled a very memorable incident between him and his father that occurred early this year.
In his Instagram post, Bong showed a pencil drawn portrait of him and Ramon, Sr. personally handed to him by an already sick dad during one of the younger Revilla’s visits the old man’s estate in Bacoor, Cavite.
A House In the Memorial Park
According to veteran entertainment newshen, Alice Vergara, who had been running around with the Revillas even when the patriarch was still a matinee idol in Sampaguita Pictures in 1950s up to his playing eponymous Cavite folk heroes like “Nardong Putik”, “Pepe Saclao”, “Napoleon Agra”, etc. in 70s, 80s and 90s in his family owned film factory, Imus Productions, Mang (an address of endearment to an older man) Ramon built himself “a house” inside the Angelus Memorial Gardens along Aguinaldo Highway in Bacoor.
The memorial garden was one of the veteran actors cherished properties located a few blocks away from his old mansion also along the same highway.
Last January, Bong paid his dad a visit and saw a healthy father smiling and embracing him.
Sinong Mas Guwapo?
“Isang magandang regalo na bigay ni Daddy noong nakaraang January. Habambuhay ko itong iingatan at pangangalagaan. Ang puno at ang bunga. Senior at Junior. (One beautiful gift Daddy gave me last January. I would cherish and take care of this forever. The fruit tree and its seed. Senior and Junior),” captioned the so-called Titanic Action Star.
Although the Revillas are still in grief, Bong was able to make things lighter as he posted: “Sa tingin ninyo, sino ang mas guwapo? Siyempre, ikaw Daddy! (What do you think, who is handsomer? Of course, it’s Daddy!)”.
Ramon, Sr. died of heart failure on June 26 at age 93.
No details yet of his funeral had been given by the family.
