On Saturday, June 20, 2020, marks the first death anniversary of respected actor Eddie Garcia.

As early as last Monday, June 8, already, there were colleagues in the industry, like filmmaker Arman Reyes who remembered Manoy, a term of endearment to Tito Eddie, on the day he met a tragic accident.

“It’s been a year since Eddie Garcia had an accident while taping. May he be at peace in Heaven,” prayed Arman who had directed and was associate director in a number of memorable films with Garcia including the sensual “Mahilig”, with Charito Solis, Dennis Roldan and Tanya Gomez, and  “Tomadachi”, with Jacky Woo, Bela Padilla, among others, directed by Joel Lamangan.

“I was Joel’s AD. Then, with Manoy Eddie, I was the scriptwriter and his Dubbing Supervisor of ‘Star? Dakilang Ekstra (Showbiz Scandal).’

“In his ‘Kung Kaya Mo, Kaya Ko Rin,’ ‘Sa Putik ang Ihuhugas ay Dugo’ and ‘Isang Ama, Dalawang Ina,’ I was the Dubbing Supervisor,” recalled Arman, also known in his professional names as Armand Reyes and Armando Reyes.

That Fateful Day

Eddie tripped off an electrical writing at the set of the GMA Network work-in-progress TV drama, “Rosang Agimat” in Tondo, Manila on June 8, 2019. The show was confirmed shelved.

He fell off and this rendered him unconscious so he was rushed to the nearest facility, the Tondo General Hospital. After one day, he was transferred to the Makati Medical Center where he died after a few days.

Garcia was cremated and his ashes were entrusted to his long-time partner Lilibeth Romero.

Awaiting Inurnment

Erwin Garcia, son of Eddie, was thankful to Arman for remembering his Dad.

Arman forwarded the social media message of Erwin in Facebook but, obviously, there were still conversations that transpired between the two.

What isn’t good is that his URN isn’t properly placed yet in a columbarium and Tita Lilibeth doesn’t communicate with us anymore).”
